A new decorative trend in industrial style - the CONCRETE PLANTER

The time when concrete was only used as a boring and sober building material is gone. Concrete decoration is sustainable, because it is very long lived and easy to hand-make individually.

Concrete hanging planters can also be used to green small spaces with little room for table-top planters or vases. They give Dancing Pixies a stage at eye level where you can watch their flowers dance from an all-new perspective.

Here's what you need:

craft concrete, plastic pan, beaker, trowel and scales, adhesive tape, masking tape, acrylic paint and brush, Dancing Pixies and companion plant, stones to be used as weights, wire, poly film two plastic pots (large & small)

Step 1

Mix the craft concrete following package instructions. If you use pots with bottom holes, tape off holes well to prevent the craft concrete from leaking through.

Step 2

Fill the large pot only halfway with concrete to avoid concrete spilling over the top when you insert the small pot.

Step 3

Place the small pot in the centre of the large concrete-filled pot, and push down slowly and carefully. Fill the small pot with little stones to prevent it from rising to the surface. Using little instead of large stones will ensure that the weight is distributed evenly around the bottom of the pot.

Step 4

Bend three small loops from wire. They will be used as suspension loops later. Evenly space the loops around the concrete and press down into the concrete. TIP: Use some wire to secure the three loops to the pot rim to prevent them from sinking completely into the concrete. Do not position the loops too close to the wall of the larger pot or they could break out later.

Step 5

Allow concrete to harden following package instructions. Carefully tip the hardened concrete planter out of the large plastic pot and remove the small pot. Tape off the concrete planter with masking tape and paint in any colour(s) you like. Allow paint to dry. Line dry concrete planter with film and plant with Dancing Pixies.
