Making a macramé hanging planter

Home-made boho decoration

In recent years macramé (a knotting technique from the orient) has taken over our living rooms, balconies and terraces. Why? Because you just have to know very few knots to make individual and decorative accessories yourself.

Material: Cord from organic natural fibre such as jute, cotton or sisal is ideal to create the perfect boho look. You can also decorate the hanging ropes with untreated wooden beads in various sizes.

Here's what you need:

macramé cord (available in various colours), folding rule or ruler, scissors, Dancing Pixies in a ceramic planter, wooden ring

Step 1

For a round planter approximately 16 cm in diameter: cut four pieces of cord, each 220 cm long. Fold each of the four cords in half and attach them to the wooden ring by pulling the ends through the loops.

Step 2

Measure off 30 cm of cord and knot two cords together each. Then measure off 15 cm and knot two cords together each that have not yet been knotted together. Measure off 15 cm and knot together all eight cords. Place the pot in and hang up. Adjust the knot spacings to fit any other planter shape and/or size.
